  1. What an Agent! Actually, Brad is as much a Counselor, mediator & advocate as he is an agent. Oh boy…

Three decision makers, right? 1. Practical & Money person ~ Function over Form kinda person, 2. ruled by ‘feeling & energy’ (full disclosure: uh…yeah, ME!, and 3. lives primarily in Tucson so input is based on Number 1’s & 2’s subjective reports. UGH.

Brad navigated THAT dynamic like an admiral commanding The Santa Maria. I talk a lot…

I honestly believed Brad actually LIVED in each central Phoenix neighborhood we visited because he was totally informed about History, development practice, demographics, level of hospitality ~ if you will, and potential future.

We interview real estate agents like we do our Doctor, Financial Advisor, Religious congregation, and our Butcher, right? We were so Right On with Brad.

Thank you Brother. The house is amazing. The house is totally Home. We know and socialize with our neighbors. Our dogs LOVE the property and neighborhood walks. Your instincts brought us here.

    Peace

  2. My husband and I recently got married and were in search of a larger rental property. We were just as concerned about finding a good property as a good landlord . ~~~ Spoiler Alert- Beware of Landlord/ Realtor Melisa Camp~~~ Melisa acting as the owner/realtor of the property, showed us the space and we were qualified within the next few days. We are a professional working couple, with a very good income, and great references. Being a licensed broker, Melisa used the standard AZ rental template, which was fine with us. With 14 years of professional commercial real estate under my belt, I must admit her lease seemed clearly written and to the point. Like most people, we asked for clarification on a few small items and awaited a final copy to execute.

Upon receiving the ‘execution’ copy I noticed Melisa had added in some new language that was not previously agreed upon. Not only is this unprofessional, I found it extremely shady that our future landlord was trying to pull a fast one on us.
When we brought this matter to Melisa’s attention she agreed to adjust the language but made a point to mention, “just so you know, I approved another tenant this weekend.” Given we were in contract stage and had expressed an interest in expediting the lease, I had no idea why that point was of any relevance to the situation. Being completely honest, her comment felt like more of a threat. Kind of like, she would make the change but if we stood up for ourselves on any other issue, she would lease the house to someone else? Crazy.

Like most contracts, we had until 9 pm that night to execute the lease and get earnest monies to the landlord. Less than 20 minutes after agreeing to edit her last minute change, Melisa contacted us and said, “sorry, the other tenant signed their lease first…the house is rented.” Rented? How is that possible given she was clearly in contract stage with us. Furthermore, we had until 9 pm to finalize the deal with Melisa. We emailed her back indicating we thought she was negotiating in bad faith. She responded with some sort of weak response about not hearing from us (um, we were just talking with you earlier today…) and immediately voided our electronic lease (good thing I had already printed a copy).

As if this situation was not infuriating enough (loss of time, energy and faith in humanity) we can see that she went on to list the property ‘For Sale’ a few days later and more recently ‘For Rent’ again. A recent drive by the property indicates that it is still for lease.

Melisa mentioned that she had approved many applicants but for some strange reason they just never worked out. After this incident, I can see why. The listing for the house referenced above has been on Zillow for over 109 days…it’s a great property…you do the math.

I’ve ran this scenario past several real estate professionals and they all agree on one thing- Melisa negotiated in bad faith.

I contemplated the hassle of writing this review but at the end of the day it’s about doing the right thing. I want others to be aware that Melisa Camp is an unprofessional real estate agent abusing her power. Think twice before doing business with her.
